But you don’t have to be a professional photographer to take amazing images of shelters pets. And you don’t have to have a high dollar camera. All you need is a love for animals, the desire to help, a simple point and shoot camera, and a little time out of your week to make a real difference in the lives of homeless pets.

So, Seth Casteel- the famous animal photographer- he’s got this video that shows people, of all skill levels, how to be successful at photographing animals. He’ll let you in on what settings to use on either a digital SLR or a simple point-and-shoot camera so that you can get the most out of your images. He tells you how to get the attention of animals and shares tips and techniques for capturing their best interactions with you, the photographer.

If you are a photographer or already a shelter volunteer, or simply someone who’d like to help and have a camera to put to use, please make sure to contact your local animal shelter, rescue, or animal control. Ask them if you can help them by taking amazing images of their adoptable pets.

Watch this 26 minute video by Seth Casteel and see how you can share your talents to save the lives of homeless pets.

I recommend this video for anyone, evening if you have already been doing shelter photography for years.

If you don’t think that adoption pictures matter, check out this video for a few examples of what a difference a good image can make.

Enjoy.
