Gila's Place

A menagerie of eclectic things…

I came across the following FB post from the Marissa Historical & Genealogical Society and wanted to make sure I had a copy.

I love stories about the Adami; my grandmother and great grandmother both worked there at one time.

By the 80’s the hotel was long gone and the remaining property was made into a trailer court by Roy McKinley. Barb Barchakowski (sp?) later bought it from Roy and I have no idea who owns it now. (I’ll update when I find out.)

From Marissa Historical & Genealogical Society

According to the 1880 census Michael Adami, Sr. and his son Michael Adami, Jr. ran the hotel.

Michael, Sr. was born in France in 1821 and died Jan 1898. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Michael Jr. was born 26 Dec 1847 in New Orleans, LA and died in Coulterville on 21 Jun 1916. He is buried in the Coulterville Cemetery. He was a veteran of the Civil War serving in Co. C., 33rd MO Infantry.
